Changing a server IP address in your WHM/cPanel.
1: IP address change on your main server.
To change the main IP address for your VPS server you need to log into your control panel and then select the Network Tab. In the Network Tab look for VPS Controls and click the ‘Set as Main IP Address’ button to the left of the new IP address.
2: Updating Control Panel IP address.
Follow these steps to change the IP address for the WHM/cPanel.
• Connect to your VPS server using an SSH interface SSH Such at PuTTY.
• Update your license with the following command:
# /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
• Log into the WHM panel on this address: https://new_server_ip:2087
• Go to Home – Main – Server Configuration – Basic cPanel & WHM Setup menu and then click All Tab.
• The ‘IP address’ field is used to set up up shared IP virtual hosts. In the ‘Basic Config’ section enter the new IP address then save the changes.
• Go to Home – Main – Account Functions – and change the site’s ‘IP Address’ to update the IP address for added user sites.
• Select ‘User’ and then click ‘Change.’
• Select the new IP address from the drop-down menu and select ‘Change.’
This procedure must be repeated for every newly created user. The process can be speeded up considerably by using the Account Search function to filter users by Domain or User Name.
3. Updating your IP address on your DNS server.
The next steps show you how to change the private name servers (NS) IP address used by your specified DNS server.
• Go to Home – Main – Server Configuration – Basic cPanel & WHM Setup menu and select the All Tab
• Under the ‘Nameservers’ section change the IP address and then save the changes.
4. Updating the A Record.
Follow these final steps to update the A-records for the existing zones in the DNS on WHM cPanel.
• Go to Home – Main – DNS Functions – Edit DNS Zone menu.
• Select ‘Domain’ and the ‘Edit’ button.
• Apply the new IP address to the A record.
Remember to repeat this procedure for all added Domains.
